CAL resources on the Web

The following packages can be used on the Internet with a web browser. All the programs require the installation of Macromedia Shockwave plug-ins.

Small animal ophthalmology: the anterior part of the eye. Small animal ophthalmology:the anterior part of the eye.

This CAL tutorial consists of about 60 questions, illustrated with 45 photographs covering a variety of different ophthalmic conditions affecting the anterior part of the eye in the cat and dog. To use the tutorial click on the arrow keys below to navigate between screens. There are a total of 157 screens and it is likely to take between 1 and 2 hrs to complete. This tutorial is primarily intended for final year students and is designed to provide revision of material taught in the Second VetMB Part I course. The package file is quite large (3.4Mb) and if you are on a slow Internet connection it may take a while before the front page appears.

This tutorial consisting of some 85 screens is divided into 4 sections: 1. Techniques for parasitological examination of dog faeces, 2. Structural features of the parasite stages seen in dog faeces, 3. A key for the identification of these parasites, and 4. A quiz for self assessment.

This package enables students to evaluate a surgery case and assess their knowledge of the treatment and complications of a particular condition.


PCVPP Measuring Plasma Protein and Packed Cell Volume

Students can prepare for work in the out-of-hours clinical pathology laboratory using this package which describes the measurement of packed cell volume and plasma protein in blood samples.
