Anaesthesia and Intensive Care

The anaesthesia service at the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital is not only concerned with providing an anaesthesia service to the hospital but we also provide fluid therapy support, pain management advice and assist with intensive care. In addition we are a training centre for specialist anaesthetists of the future as well as providing training in anaesthesia to undergraduate veterinary students, veterinary nurses and junior and senior training scholars in other disciplines. Vets in practice are more than welcome to pick our brains on techniques either by e-mail, phone or coming to the hospital to spend time with us. We endeavour to progress the knowledge of anaesthesia by conducting clinical trials and observations on anaesthetic drugs and techniques , This is in order to improve anaesthesia in future and minimise the risks involved in what is a relatively risky procedure with no therapeutic outcome in its own right.
