Professional history

Heidi graduated from the University of Munich in 1995 and completed a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine of Zurich University in 1998. After three years in private practice and one year working with finite element analysis at the University of Georgia and as AO Fellow at the University of Texas, she moved to the University of Bern to complete a three-year ECVS residency in 2005. In 2006 she joined the University of Cambridge, initially as Clinical Surgeon, progressing to Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery. In 2007 she was awarded the European Diploma in Small Animal surgery.

Professional specialism and interests, including clinical research

I am interested in all aspects of orthopaedics in cats and dogs. I am particularly interested in joint surgery including minimal invasive techniques like arthroscopy and get excited about the management of complicated trauma cases. I am currently involved in clinical projects investigating various aspects of cruciate disease in dogs including kinematic analysis. Other current projects investigate the biomechanics of proximal tibial fractures in dogs and the biomechanical performance of implants using conventional and computer simulated methods.
