Introduction
IOHC - incomplete ossification of the humeral condyle causes fissure or weakness across the humeral condyle which can result in lameness or even worse, a complete fracture of the bone. Springer spaniels are the breed most commonly seen with this condition in the UK and we are therefore collecting samples of (blood or saliva) and pedigrees from both affected and unaffected dogs so we can see if there is a genetic cause for the disease. For more information regarding this disease please click here.

Patella fractures in cats - stress fractures of the patella in cats may be an indication of a more serious underlying bone disease or collagen disorder. Many cats subsequently go on to suffer other stress or non traumatic shear fractures of the pelvis, humeral condyle and proximal tibia. Cats often have a history of retained deciduous teeth. We are interested in receiving details of all affected cats and if possible we would like samples of bone or skin so we can analyse the collagen in these cats to look for underlying disorders such as osteogenesis imperfecta.
