Alessandra Barreto de Silva

I have a BSc in Nutrition (2013) and a MSc in Nanoscience and Nanobiotechnology (2015), both from the University of Brasilia, Brazil.  During my Masters, I focused on synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles. After that, I performed a six months placement at MRC Human Nutrition Research (2015), when I worked with nano-inorganic synthesis. Following this, I started to give lectures at the University of Brasilia on food nanotechnologies (2016-2017). I am currently investigating titanium dioxide nanoparticles food exposure in humans

Infection and Immunity:

Research Interests

I am especially interested in human oral exposure to nanoparticles, its gastrointestinal absorption and metabolism.  Not only that but also the benefits and safety of food nanotechnologies, such as nano-nutraceuticals, nanostructured edible coatings and nano-antimicrobials.
