Choosing a project, facilities & laboratory training

From this, most of the rest follows!

A suitable research project will complement the rest of your lab’s work, but will be distinct and easily identified as the student’s own area. There will ideally be some scope for the student to “do their own thing” in developing the project. Remember that the student is not here to work as a technician, but that they will need heavy supervision in practical aspects, especially in the first year.  Make sure the project has sufficient flexibility to allow completion in three years.

PIs - PhD projects please.

"PhD projects please:
We will be placing PhD Project advertisements on ‘FindAPhD.com’ during the next few weeks.  If you are considering taking a student, could you please supply a project title, 5 key words and a short description of the project (300 words or less).  Please include the skills that will be gained by the student.  Don’t worry if the project doesn’t yet have funding as we will be looking into their funding situation before inviting candidates to interview.

A prompt email response to Fiona Roby would be very much appreciated."
