The Departmental Safety Officer (DSO) and the Departmental dogs at work team have produced a policy and documentation for staff dogs who visit the site for anything other than their own health care needs. In the links below you will find the code of conduct setting out the Department’s expectations for dog and their humans, a simple risk assessment for you to complete for your dog/s and a form to request permission for them to be on site.
Please send all documents to the DSO - Saeed (msa68) and not the dogs at work group. Anna Hollis and Alison Hayes are happy to help with general guidance or interpretation of the documentation ahead of an application being submitted. A common question that is asked, is whether dogs who visit for the purpose of clinical teaching need to be registered, and the answer is yes if they are anywhere on site other than in the Clinical Skills area.
Any new dogs should also be logged on the attached spreadsheet https://cambridge.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bsCYZQyVUuTU4jY
Lastly, if for any reason you no longer bring your dog to work, please could you email us directly via dogs@vet.cam.ac.uk so we can update the information that we have. Unfortunately, it isn’t possible for individuals to edit or remove dogs from the register.
