All applicants must be interviewed before they can be accepted by the Department. As a minimum this process must involve the prospective supervisor and Dr David Sargan as Director of Graduate Studies for the Department as well as the Graduate Officer. However, it is preferable that two academic staff are included on the panel. Where possible this interview should be face to face, but for overseas applicants a Skype link will suffice. Unsighted telephone interviews should not be used unless the applicant is already known to the interview panel. No offer should be made at the end of the interview until discussion has occurred with the Graduate Office and/or the Head of Department.
