Biography

I am a biophysics researcher working on tissue imaging in gastrointestinal immunology at the University of Cambridge since 2023. I completed PhD with Magna cum Laude from TU Dresden, Germany in molecular biology of biomolecular patterns in diatoms using advanced microscopy in 2022. I received my Masters of Science (Res) from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India in 2017 in bio-photonics.

Research

My expertise is in custom quantitative biological imaging and image processing for making tailor-made solutions for biological questions. My current research is on the effect of nanoparticles on gastrointestinal immunology. Nanoparticles are used as additives in food products and toothpaste, but how their oral ingestion and absorption in the gut affect the immunological response is largely unknown. I use advanced quantitative microscopy techniques to assess if certain such particles induce genotoxic responses in intestinal lymph tissues by assessing in-situ DNA damage.

Prior to this, I worked on combining super-resolution fluorescence, Correlative Light and Electron Microscopy, live cell imaging and custom image processing to understand biomineralization pattern formation in unicellular diatoms.
