I completed my MBChB, BMedSci (Hons) and MPH degrees at the University of Cape Town, where I developed my interests in the application of the fundamental sciences to improve health outcomes at both the clinical and population level. I spent several years working as a clinician in the public sector in Cape Town, followed by time in a clinical research role. I am currently a graduate student in the Laboratory of Viral Zoonotics supervised by Professor Jonathan Heeney. My research focuses on the immune correlates of protection against betacoronaviruses in humans and how we can use this knowledge to develop effective, broadly protective vaccines against these pathogens.
My interests lie in the intersection of fundamental science, clinical medicine, and population health. I’m interested in the interaction between human pathogens and the immune system, and the fine balance between immunity and pathology
