Biography
I am a current PhD student in the group of Professor Julian Parkhill, where I am applying machine learning to identify novel antibiotic resistance mechanisms in Klebsiella pneumoniae. I previously completed my MSci degree at University College London, where I carried out research under the supervision of Dr. Lucy Van Dorp, focusing on characterising the genetic determinants of antibiotic resistance in the bacteria Acinetobacter baumanii. I later joined the research group of Dr. Moritz Treek at The Francis Crick Institute, where I also applied machine learning techniques to understand host-pathogen interactions using single-cell RNA data from CRISPR screens. Outside my academic interests, I am very passionate about entrepreneurship and the commercialisation of scientific discoveries. I have worked closely with accelerators and venture capital funds to support founders and would love to connect with and help anyone looking to start a business.
