Mental Health First Aiders
Did you know we are fortunate to have over 18 trained Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) within the department and hospital? MHFAs are workplace colleagues trained in skills including non-judgmental listening and signposting and support for people in distress or for those seeking confidential guidance.
Here is a photograph of the department's MHFAs - L-R - Helen Boyle (hmab3), Hannah Pinnock (hrp46), Shaun Prince (sp2126), Susana Monforte Monteiro (sm926), Rachel Worsley (rw351), Sally Ricketts (sr958), Alan Barreto (ard82) Justine Whitlam (jhw48), Julie Ingham (ji217), Alison Hayes (AMH243), Teresa Payton (tap39), Georgina Harris (glh44), Abigail Stoker (aks83), Olivier Restif (or22g), Tanya Mills (tlm22), Rachel Hewitt (reh63), Alun Williams (aw510), Joanna Hudson (jh2513). Please feel free to reach out to any of our mental health first aiders if you are in need of support. It may be best to reach out to a few different names, due to different working patterns.
The department coordinates MHFA training and refresher training from time to time. If you are interested in becoming trained as an MHFA or have recently joined the Vet School as an already-trained MHFA, please contact one of the Julie Ingham (JI217) for further information or to register your interest.
